16 August 2004 - 12:14 p.m. "I'm much too busy seeing that you don't lose any of the money I married you for."I just watched The Thin Man. I'm thinking about picking up the book. If there's anything I should have seen and/or read years ago, it's The Thin Man. Not because Nick and Nora Charles would have like, gotten me through my difficult teen years or anything, but because I'd always heard so much about them, and just assumed I wanted to be exactly like them without actually reading the books or seeing the movies. It's more like, after modeling my whole existence around being just like them, it would be a hell of a thing to realize they weren't even cool. Maybe I just had a hunch that one day, I would grow up to be a spoiled, soused, stylish, clever, pet-owning lady of leisure like my role-model-in-absentia, Nora Charles, and I wouldn't have to study Dasheill Hammet after a sort of "W.W.N.C.D.?" Maybe the Nicks and Noras of the world just know how to be charming and irresponsible. Pass the gin! What I'm wearing: Blue and white striped sweater, white capri pants. What I'm reading: What I'm doing after this: Eating some soup. - - 07 May 2005 Wheee! - 02 November 2004 Inside of my fridge. - 28 October 2004 TV is Stupid. - 24 September 2004 "The only paperback writer who would drive a Buick is like, Tom Clancy." -Gus - 20 September 2004 |
