Listen up! is my new phrase, along with Sit down! Don't throw that! and Single file! Yes, the joys of teaching elementary school children are many, but do not include comparing things to "a Sam Seaborne-shaped hole in the wall." Though since it is poetry week, I could always have fun with simile and metaphor on Friday. Maybe I can convince the kids that there is only one simile. "No, no, the pond can't glisten like a mirror; it can only glisten like a Sam Seaborne-shaped hole in the wall."

Listen up! How can I cool down my cat and get her to eat something? She is Ms. Misery in the heat, and I can't blame her, but she has to eat something. She's throwing up her own saliva and looks as thin as a Sam Seaborn-shaped hole in the wall.
