Something tells me this wasn't in the soundtrack to the original motion picture...

I just watched Unforgiven for screenwriting class. In spite of being 127 minutes long and a western, it was pretty good. My favorite character was English Bob, played by Richard Harris of Camelot (which is much more my speed than anything with Clint Eastwood, by the way) fame. For some reason, I found him freaking hilarious. The hilarity was marred, though, by this little voice inside my head that kept singing "I love English Bob, so kill another pheasant for a dollar, bay-bay." What the hell?

The other thing about the movie is that I guess no director trusts Clint with any cool macho tagline after oft-repeated "Go ahead, make my day." Which made a lot of exchanges kind of anticlimactic. Imagine Clint straddling Gene Hackman, a rifle pointed at his throat, and responding to Gene's "I'll see you in hell" with a half-hearted "Yeah." Maybe that was supposed to be meaningful...? I don't know. It's just that when I watch a western, I want to be able to come away with something I can make fun of for a while.

Did I just write an entire entry on Unforgiven? Damn.
